-- Adding an Avatar
- Find an avatar you want to use. The largest it can be is 100 x 100 pixels (look at mine!) To find out the images size, simply right-click on it and click on 'Properties'.
- Select and copy the URL of the image from the Properties section (as above).
- Go to your profile by clicking the link in the top/main menu of the forum, then click on 'Modify Profile'.
- Paste the URL of the image you want into the 'Avatar URL' box by pressing Ctrl+V on your keyboard.
- Type in the size of your avatar into the two boxes below (the size of the image was on the Properties section, as in point 1.)
-- Adding a Signature
- In the same way as with the avatar, you need to know the URL of the image you want in your signature.
- Go to modify your profile, as before with the avatar, and find the signature box.
- To add an image, you need to use BBCode tags. Copy and paste the code below:
[img]URL goes here[/img]
- Make sure that your image is 500 x 180 pixels or under.
-- Hosting Images
If you've made your own signature image or avatar, you will need a place to host your image so that you can get a URL. So where can you do this? Well there are lots of them, but I've found the best to be:
www.photobucket.com (registration requied)
www.imageshack.us
-- Why isn't the "Post Reply" Button Showing?
There are two likely explanations for this.... We have a character limit code in the roleplaying sections of the forum (set at 1500 characters). The first explanation for the 'post message' button not lighting up is that you haven't written enough. You must write 1500 characters, which is approximately 300 words. So it's not a lot really!
If this isn't the case and you have written more than 1500 characters...
It has come to my attention that if you are writing your post in an application like Word and pasting it into a reply on one of the IC boards, then the 'post message' might not light up, even when you have over 1500 characters in your post.
The solution to this? Paste the reply in as usual, but once you have pasted it in, delete the last few letters of the post, then type them in again. The character limit code needs time to count how many characters you have, and it can't do this if you've copied and pasted from somewhere else.
If you still can't post, please PM me and I'll see what's going on.
-- Add to the FAQ
If you have a question that needs answering and you think it should be added to the FAQ, simply send me a quick message by clicking on my name and going to "Send Personal Message". I'll do my best to answer your question as best I can, and if I think it's something that all members need to know, then I will add it to the FAW.
