So that you can get the jist of our rules before joining the forum, here is a quick run-down of the major rules. Please try to read the whole rule guide at some point after joining, as they really help you to RP here with us!

• Sign up with your desired character name for your username (surname first!)
  
  
• No god-moding, power-playing, or mini-modding.
  
  
• You must add an avatar to your profile, and your username should be the name of your character.
  
  
• We are a literate forum, which means that decent, lengthy replies are expected.
  
  
• We have a character limiter in place in all in-character boards, set at 1500 characters (roughly 300 words).
  
  
• Make a new account for each character (up to 4 only, please!) Tip: Use the first name of your character as an account name!
  
  
• Signature images may be no larger than 480 x 180 pixels and should feature your character (no cartoon/anime/manga! Photographs only!) If you would like one made for you, please take a look at the graphics request board in the OOC section!
  
  
• Violence should be kept to a minimum, and kept realistic. You may not kill off other people's characters without permission.
  
  
• Everything should be kept PG-13.
  
  
• Try to use [open] [private] and [closed] tags in your IC post titles ((Details on how/where to use them below)).
  
  
• Do NOT post your character's application until it is ready to be seen a staff members!
  
  
• Rejected applications should be ready for another review within a week, or they will be deleted!

Please make sure that you read these at some point soon after joining.

-- General

01. When joining the forum, please have your display name as the full name of your character. For example, my Display Name is 'Fuwa Kazuki', which is the name of my character. If you don't know what you want to character before you join, or forget to do this, then it will be done for you when your character application is accepted. You can change your Display Name by clicking on the 'Profile' button in the menu bar, then clicking on 'Modify Profile'. Please remember, as this is a Japan-based roleplay, that the surname of your character should come first.

02. Try your best to be active, and please let everyone know if you are going away for a more than a week. I will also be conducting monthly activity checks, which will involve me sending out a mass email. You will need to post in the appropriate board to let me know that you’re still active.

03. Power-playing (creating a character that is perfect, and can never be bested), or God-moding (controlling the actions of characters which don't belong to you), is not tolerated and will be deleted/edited.

04. Mini-modding is strictly forbidden. Moderators and staff members are there for a reason; if you find that you always want to help out with new members who are having problems with posting etc., then apply for staff; please do not try and handle the matters yourself. Report any incidents to a staff member.

05. This is a literate site. This means that you should be posting with a reasonably high level of grammatical and spelling accuracy. There is a character-limiter in place, meaning that you cannot post in the IC threads until your post is at least 1500 character (roughly 300 words) long. The limit is this low because I know that it’s tough to write anything sometimes. I would hope that most of you will be posting at least double this limit, though ^_^

06. We play in third person past tense. If you don't know what that means, this probably isn't the board for you. However, a quick explanation is that you are telling the story from outside's the character's mindset and as if the events have already happened.

07. Please make sure to use tags in your IC topic titles that indicate whether your thread is open for anyone to reply in ((e.g. [open])), private ((e.g. [Emiko//Amaya] or [Hikaru])). Also, when your thread is finished, so that the mods know when it can be moved to the thread graveyard, you need to edit the first post using the "Modify" button to make the topic title say "[Closed]". Please also PM a staff member, just in case!

08. Don't post your character's application thread until you are 100% sure that it is complete! There's nothing more annoying for staff members than to find a new application, open it, and find that it's not even finished!

09. If your application is rejected, make sure that it is ready for another review by staff within a week, or it will be deleted! You must let staff know by PMing them when you're ready; do not use the cbox or post in your application thread.

-- Characters

01. You may only have one character per account. Please don’t have more than four characters, though.

02. Characters may be in more than one plot/board at any one time. However, please make sure that you keep your character’s personal timeline in mind when posting! We don't want your character to miraculously be able to be in two places at once!

03. You must apply for your character on the Starting Out board before you may roleplay on the site. If you try to post as your character before your application has been accepted, you will be sent a warning, and the post will be deleted. Also, please make sure to read all of the restrictions on new characters noted here. If you break restrictions, this constitutes as breaking a rule, and you will be warned.

04. Nobody is perfect! Please do not apply for a character who is a straight-A student, is absolutely stunning in appearance, has hundreds of friends, and is hated by no one. Trust me; nobody like that exists! So don't apply for them ^_^

05. Characters can be aged 16, 17 or 18 only (check the application form for details on this).

-- Personal Imaging

01. You must have an avatar. Take a look at the FAQ if you are unsure how to do this. Avatars should be 100 x 100 pixles.

02. Signature images may be no larger than a total diameter of 480 x 160. You should not have more than one image in your signature.

03. Celebrities may be used as play-by's. You should check the celebrity claim thread before choosing who you wish to use. You don't have to use anyone well-known if you don't want to. Please bear in mind that as the forum is set in Japan, Asian play-by's are really a must (PM me if you want to be a tranfer student from another country before posting an application).

04. Signature pictures must be related to your character. Avatars can be anything as long as they are not offensive.

05. Please do not post ANY images ANYwhere in the forum that are wider than 500 pixels. If you do, they will be removed.

-- Restrictions

01. The rating for this forum is basically PG-13, as members can join from that age. So, cursing, very moderate violence and some moderate sexual situations are allowed.

02. Further to this, and regarding sexual situatons, you may not RP the physical act of sex, and especially not rape.

Please note that I retain the right to update these rules at any time without giving any warning. So make sure to keep checking back as much as you can, just in case!
