A sunny afternoon and a date at the mall. Not a formal date of course but she had recieved a text from her best friend asking her to go to the Mall because there was a surprise for her there. What Haruhi did not understand was that Toushirou was in United States, was he going to move back in Japan and that was why he had instructed her to be there and get dressed well? She couldn't really tell unless it was just a prank by him because he had asked someone to tape her waiting outside of the Mall dressed in a good outfit that he would later see and call her to tell her how ugly she was.
Well apart from thinking that though, Haruhi nonetheless, wore a nice casual pink dress with a thin strap that was tied behind her neck. The length of the dress was reaching her knees and she was wearing black ballerinas. and a holding a black purse to combine the two colors though she added a white belt on her thin waist. She had put on light pink and shiny lipstick and mascara and some make up to cover her black circles. Yes after she had received his message she could not sleep all night and just remained in front of her computer watching her favorite anime.
And now there she stood walking up and down in front of the mall waiting for her dear friend to arrive. She had missed him a lot, she wanted to see him like crazy, she wanted to make fun of him like crazy and probably let Mei meet him. He would approach her in a weird way as always and surprise her when she would least expect it therefore she was just thinking of what kind of way he would use. First she thought of him using a blindfols on her or just appearing in front of her by directing her attention elsewhere and just act like he poped next to her.
But then again she though that what if he knew that she would see through it? Wel if it did happen then probably he would do it anyway just because he is who he is. Her childhood and best friend. And just when she was thinking of him she saw someone from far coming towards her. She could only distinguish his black hair but other than that the figure she was seeing was weird and she was curious as to what he was doing.
Slowly the figure was getting closer allowing her to realize that the man was riding a horse. Masaka! she thought and blinked several times, rubbed her eyes and looked at him again. It was him and he was getting closer and closer to her on a black horse. What an amazing surprises. But why a black horse? And why would he do that? Even though she shouldn't be thikning of those questions it was only logical that she would ask herself about it.
The moment though his figure was getting more clear she saw that he was much more handsome now and she could not help but wave at him. "Finally you came, how long did you plan to make a lady wait you baka?" She in a loud voice as she proceeded to walk closer to him.
"Do you have any idea how long it took you to be here on time?" She asked him wagging her finger and him and still not letting the volume of her voice drop. "I have been waiting for 15 minutes!" She yelled at him. But once she saw his serious face she just blinked and waited for reactions.

He wanted to surprise her, and he was waiting for the surprise to come to him first. He was already some blocks away from his meeting place with Haruhi but the horse was not there. He was getting impatient because he really did not want to make her wait. From what he had seen when he went to see if she arrived, she was dressed well, like he had requested and he really wanted to look at her from a closer distance but thank to the dammed horse being late he just couldn't.
He was walking up and down until finally the horse was there brought to him by his butler. "Old man you are late!" He said in a shifty way. "A gentleman should never make a woman wait! Did you forget?" He scolded him and approached the horse rode it and by kicking slightly on the side the horse started walking slowly.
Toushirou was wearing his black pants and a black shirt with the two first buttons open and a loosely tied tie. He was like a black prince, nothing like the white prince on a white horse. He just didn't like the color white in the day, it attracted no interest while the black in the day was the best. He was confident that she would jump and love his surprise. Or at least he hoped for it...after all he made her wait 15 minutes and if he knew her well enough then he could easily deduce that she would shout at him.
While he was getting closer he was also looking at her and how she was dressed. The green color matched her skin perfectly and it went well with her pink lips and the black and white touches. He was surprised as to how thinner her waist looked in that dress, he would swear that she looked a little fatter. And while he was getting closer to her he saw her walking closer and suddenly he saw her lips moving and her voice piercing through his ears while she was shouting at him for being late.
He knew that he was wrong for making her wait but he could not do anything else. He just had a serious look in his face looking down and friwning a bit which immediately worked and she had changed her expression too in a more serious way until he saw her blinking. "I am sorry, I wanted to be on time but the horse came late!" He mambled childishly as he looked at her and then lowered his head. It was one of the tricks he always used to make her forgive him for his idiotic behaviour.
"I really wanted to surprise you! So, I came with the horse and appeared like your prince! I know I am not but it was a good surprise for my childhood friend!" He said and got off the horse while at that moment the butler came to take him and he was left alone with her and smiled to her warmly spreading his hands to give her a hug. Now normally in Japan something like that was not widespread but since both lived in America for a while they knew that it was not something wrong and they were used to it. While his hands were spread he walked to her and hugged her, "You got thinner by the way, eat more! And you look .. amazing in this dress!" He added blushing but since he was hugging her his blush could not be seen.
Letting her go he poked her shoulder. "Come, shall we go somewhere to have fun or drink a cup of coffee or anyway drink something to rejuvenate us? It is too hot!" He suggested to her knowing that she would immediately tell him that she wanted to drink cappuccino freddo and sit at the cafeteria on the top floor of the Mall. He knew her habbits very well. He was wondering if she had any cases but he decided to ask her when they would sit and if her friends would appear, because he was sure that the deduction freak would make the smallest case into being something completely illegal and unexpected.

Before he came closer it was difficult for her to notice at his clothes since she was really mad but the moment that he started speaking and he took that sad expression on his face she just couldn't help but look not only at his face but the rest of his body to see the body language and judge whether or not she should forgive him and then she noticed that he was dressed in black. Judging by how well she knew him it was to attract the attention during the day, but still she noticed that he was still after the style of the free buttons to show part of his clean and soft chest. In the beginning she looked at him being shifty but then her expressions soften and she smiled to him.
She heard his excuses and how he was eager to excuse himself for not being on time that she honestly could no longer be mad at him. "You are always doing those flashy things!" She said to him looking at the left to avoid eye contact because she was moved by his words. Taking a breath she turned to look at him with a partly calm partly angry face. "Do you like showing off in the middle of the streets?" She asked in a I-pretend-to-be-angry tone. "Grow up! Next time I won't forgive your lateness!" She said wagging her finger but then she saw that he opened his arms and she raised an eyebrow only for the next moment to be embraced by him.
Her expression softened completely and she hugged him back rubbing his back. Then the compliments came and the weird feelings were lingering again blocking her way of thinking. Now why did he say that she was thinner? His words kind of made her heart beat a little faster so she just left his hug and gazed in his eyes suspiciously to see if he was making fun of her or if he just made a mistake in what he was saying. Fortunately for him, she did not find anything suspicious in his gaze therefore she just shrugged it off. There was no way really that he liked.. no no no way! There was not even a reason for her to think of it. The two of them were just best friends and this was how it would be forever.
"Thanks for caring!" She said smiling and poking his nose. "I will eat more from now on!" She said looking down a bit. "As for my dress, thanks for the compliment!" She said and blushed slightly as she was still looking down with her hair falling in front of her face hiding the blush from his sight. The feeling was awkward and it was as if she was standing on a cliff looking down and being afraid that she would fall even though she was still standing. That was exactly the feeling she had.
"Why did you ask me to get dressed well?" She asked him raising an eyebrow since she still did not know what to expect from the freak of surprises. She was curious to see what else he had prepared. The curiosity of a cat who always tries to find out what is going on in her environment. That kind of curiosity was taking control of her. "And more importantly, I am hot that is why you are hot too!" She said and laughed at her lame joke. She really was awful with those and it was not a surprise that he just chuckled. Taking a serious look again she smiled awkwardly. "Let's just go inside and find the cafeteria and we will see about the rest!" She said scratching her head and looking around to see any familiar faces. Maybe Guo Cao Mei would come too!

She was always like that, acting all tough with him. Sometimes he would wonder why he was so unlucky having a childhood friend like her who can read him so well. It was not fair really, how did he allow a girl like her, a deduction freak who can find out his secret, to become so close to him just like that. Well it was not in his hand, after thinking it he realized that they were like that long before he became Aoi Baron. Well, it was a way of him reminding himself that Haruhi was not just his best friend but his worst enemy. She was too smart, and even though he was also too smart, she was getting in his way whenever she would stop his stealing habbit.
She even dared to tell him to grow up after doing such a romantic thing for her. That girl was so confusing him most of the time. Crazy really, how she was able to crush everything he would do to make her feel nice and with one gesture or smile or hug, she had the ability to make him smile and feel warm inside. Sometimes he just felt like telling her how she felt, who he was, find more on what she thinks about Aoi Baron and him. But in the end he would always hesitate and get shy. Him who would never get shy with anyone else.
"I am old enough, and anyway I just did something embarrassing to make you feel like you have a prince when nobody will really treat you like a princess!" He shouted at her with an angry tone. "And acting nice on me now, with those eyes and cute face of yours won't work. I do something for you and I get scolded!" He whined and turned his back pouting. It was an act from his side of course. He was as always unable to show how he felt.
"And, yes eat more or you will end up an anorexic stick figure. I wouln't like you like that!" He said but then the moment he heard her saying something aout being hot to what he had said his face burned up, and he blushed. Maybe that was the reason but how did she find out was another thing. Did she deduce it? Or maybe it was just a joke. His heart started beating fast not knowing what to say but since she laughed he just laughed too. "No way! You are not that hot!" And that was the lie of the century!
Immediately after she replied to him in an ironic tone he tried to calm her down and led her in the Mall to find a cafeteria for her and him. "Let'[s calm down for now. I have to tell you that there is a rumor in America that Aoi Baron came here a month ago. Your FBI friend said so." He said to her quickly hoping that she would just let it pass and not start talking about him aka Aoi Baron.

He was pushing the situation too much for his own good and they were in the middle of a crowded place and she was already fuming with his comments about her never finding a prince. It was getting more and more into her as he continued speaking to what she was telling him and indeed she really did n ot like his style. Her face became dark as she looked down taking her time to make the proper terrifying grimace to use on him and make him shut that mouth of his.
She was just joking a bit but it seemed like the black haired boy could not get what a joke is and what she meant. Or he did but he loved making her angry. Was she so amusing to him? Well if it would make him laugh why not show it to him. Her terrifying face that he so loved watching.
He was talking and talking and the madness was building inside her until she took a deep breath to prepare her voice and showed her dark and angry face to him. "I am sorry for making you go to the trouble even though I did not ask for it!" She started speaking slowly and with her scary voice too as she took a step closer to him.
"And Sorry for being anorexic and not hot like you like me!" She added as her eyes were sparkling with hatred while she showed him her teeth declaring to him that the next thing that she would say was not the best and even though he tried to calm her he failed the moment he mentioned the name of her rival which made her grab him fron his shirt.
"Ii ka? That Baron is going to be caught by me no matter what! I have been trying for almost a year back there and I never managed to see his face. If, this year Icatch him and see his face he should better hide from my sight!" She said and then took a deep breath and calmed down since she released the tension that had built in her because of him. She breathed again and again and then pushed him a little when her eyes looked at his chest from his shirt.
"Anyway! If you are here to annoy me even more go home I have no time for you. Or we can just go inside and have some peaceful time and talk like the best friends we are without insulting each other..." she said and looked down as she started feeling sad for the situation that was created between them because of her jokes and his. It was happening a lot that was why she could never express to him her real love. Not that she had such feelings of course but mostly because he was her best friend she she needed to get along with him more. They grew up together, and of course there was no way that she was in love with him. Was she? No no no no.
Haruhi took another deep breath and grabbed his han, smiled brightly at him and poked his cheek. "Shiro-chan, let's go!" She said and dragged him inside still having the grin on her face while her cheeks turned slightly red. Her hand was getting hotter and hotter, but she tried to ignore it, it was probably because of her high blood pressure from some minutes ago when she was mad. It was nothing to become worried about."I want us to get along well from here on ok? No fights!" She said softly but avoiding looking at him since she was still walking on the front and dragging him .. kind of.. along.

Five twenty. This was what Mei supposed some people in higher circles must call being ‘fashionably late’. To her though, it was just regular late. She still wasn’t sure what exactly her purpose was in this meeting with Haruhi’s friend – who she was convinced was some kind of crazy serial killer that was going to kidnap her and whisk them both off in a van – but all she knew was that her new friend had asked her to come along if she could. And so there she was.
Swishing her newly cut hair about her ears with strange movements of her head, she wandered along to the mall in the early evening light, a small shoulder bag hanging over one side of her body containing her notepad and pen as instructed, as well as a large bottle of cold tea that her brother had insisted she take because “late afternoon is a warm time and you might be dehydrated”. This had made her flustered and panicked about dehydration and fainting that she’d taken an extra large bottle and crammed it into a bag not quite big enough, so the zip had begun to burst.
Reaching the mall, she suddenly paused. Where was she meant to be? She wasn’t sure. Tapping her toes together, she decided it was probably better to stay outside, and if Haruhi didn’t find her, she could just sit on the bench and people watch quite happily, maybe doodle in her book. It wouldn’t be that much of a shame if she didn’t meet the murderer, right? She shivered. She could hardly imagine what she was coming face to face with. Poor Haruhi.
Plonking herself down onto the nearest bench, which was circular with a large plant in the middle, she stared off down the road, staying in view of the mall front doors in case Haruhi looked out for her. Her baggy, striped t-shirt crumpled in the lap of her red shorts, and as Mei looked down at her red trainers, she was reminded of Haruhi asking which colour to wear. Red was a ‘seducing’ colour, then? Surely not, Mei frowned, because stop lights were red, right? Were they seducing cars? Maybe that’s why accidents happened.
Her idiotic train of though trailed off slowly into the distance as she waited, staring into the sky.

No fights!" She said softly but avoiding looking at him since she was still walking on the front and dragging him .. kind of.. along.
Toushirou suddenly felt the chills. He was soon going to witness something dreadful. Haruhi’s terrifying face. Yes, it was the face of a demon. It was not a human face at all and Toushirou knew that she was going to give it to him. It was not just his instinct though. Without expecting it and not even knowing why, he saw those dark brown eyes of her getting darker as she showed him her teeth. The war declaration was there, she was wearing the perfect outfit that would make him lose control and more importantly she was right. He got mad at himself because he really did not mean to call her anorexic but she also misunderstood his words.
He did not say a thing though he was trembling a little in the beginning while later on he calmed down. He got mad at himself though. Haruhi was not an ugly girl and she was hot, that, he had to admit. He was getting mad for not being able to express his real opinion but she was not helping him. Her face kept being angry and she was saying something about the Baron-him- and he just wanted to listen but immediately from what she had said it seemed like he had no hope after all. ‘Maa… ii ka?’ he thought and could not know if he meant it or still wished for her to not hate Aoi Baron.
Slowly though after that break down Haruhi seemed more calm and her facial characteristics were as pretty as ever that he wanted to touch her cheeks with his hands and look even closer inside her eyes. When Haruhi was calm she had another aura, another way of thinking. It was as if Haruhi was another person. Of course he knew that was not the case but it seemed like that to him. She told him that she wanted to get along better with him and he just smiled kindly to her. ‘I am sorry ... Haruhi..’ he thought as Haruhi was taking him with her.
Those words of hers were enough for him to make a comeback and then he would be able to make someone steal almost anything.”I understand!” He said smiling to her trying to clear the misunderstanding. “So we are back to normal again?" He asked with a grin and pulling her to him he hugged her. Now if Haruhi hadn't lived in America for a while then apparently he would have a hand print of his perfect skin. His act was spontaneous... that he knew it... and if Haruhi had any idea about how he felt apparently she would have told him that it cannot be done. Just for a second though he thought that it would be good if she knew but then what if it wasn't sure? He could not risk it apparently... But then he saw that she saw someone...

Well all Haruhi could remember at that moment was his facial expressions when he said to her that he understood. And then Since she wasn't able to see his face the second time because she was looking ahead she got pulled by him in a hug that made her blush a thousand times. 'What the?' she thought but then she calmed down a little. "Yes we are back to normal Shiro-chan.." she said and looking outside she saw her sitting somewhere and looking around.
She was late and she didn't see her outside when she was yelling. Well, it was better not to show that terrifying side of hers to a new friend...right? She pulled away from the hug and smirked. "Shiro-chan I am going outside to get my friend. She might be looking for me!" She said and walked outside of the Mall again to go to where she was. "Mei?" She shouted and waved at her smiling while she quickened her pace to get to her. "I am happy you made it!" She said and bowed slightly to thank her for coming.
"Shiro-chan is inside, he came on a black horse to me, but he was late and we had a big fight but now we are ok! " She summarized what happened to her being excited but not knowing why exactly. Apparently she just wanted to share the information with her therefore she did like a normal girl. "Come come, you have to meet him. I am warning you, he is not that handsome, do not expect to see Yamashita Tomohisa, but he is not bad!" She said smiling and realized that she did it again. A lot of people were telling him that he looked a lot like him but she did not want to admit it because..well whose heart doesn't beat when they see him? But for her own good, she had blocked away that idea of him looking somewhat like Yamapi.
"We were going to have a coffee by the way so , come come!" She said and made a move to take her hand in order to lead the way.She just hoped that Mei wouldn't find it rude of hers. Haruhi knew herself that she was not a normal Japanese girl...after all... there are not a lot of people who have a love for solving crimes. Not to mention her connections with the FBI that HAD do be a secret from everyone and of course sometimes her too friendly attitude.

Hearing her name called, Mei blinked herself out of her daydream, looking to the younger girl jogging towards her. Pushing herself out of her seat, she beamed, hands clasped at her chest as her toes wiggled in her shoes.
“That’s okay,” she dismissed the other girl’s thanks quickly, almost sheepishly, before her smile wavered a little. “Though I can’t stay long, we have a late delivery at seven that I need to sign for.”
She listened to Haruhi’s frantic summary of events, trying to resist the feeling of her eyebrows raising at each detail. A horse? What was with these rich people, she couldn’t help but think. Couldn’t they go by foot? She was beginning to paint a picture of Haruhi’s friend in her mind – some wealthy knight in metal armour emblazoned with rare jewels or something of the sort. Why was no-one she knew just plain normal? She smiled to herself, as she nodded to her newest friend, agreeing to come along with her.
“Though I don’t drink freshly brewed coffee, I have… a weird thing about it,” she smiled. The smell of coffee made her a little giddy, it was almost like am addiction that when she started drinking it, she couldn’t stop and once she’d been unable to sleep for about two days. She’d vowed to only drink the stuff that came out of vending machines, knowing that once she began on the fresh brew, the smell of it would drive her insane.
Slightly surprised, Mei let herself be dragged along by the hand by her new friend. She rarely came to the mall and it felt a little intimidating with the sparkling sheen bouncing off the glass. She would go there more often if it didn’t require parting with cash..

"You cannot stay long? I understand, come follow me!" She said giggling. While she was walking inside the Mall again she was probably thinking that Mei would probably already think that Shirou and she are not normal. Well she would probably be right. Rich people were eccentric and Shirou was more eccentric than anyone she had ever met. Thank goodness though Mei would not see anything from him. Just hearing was enough... apparently.
"You do not drink freshly brewed coffee? How about instant? Or cappuccino? Do you like those?" Haruhi asked her. She personally loved cappuccino freddo with a lot of milk. It was her favorite coffee. "I love cappuccino freddo with a lot of milk." She said to her as they were walking towards Shirou. Haruhi saw him waiting where she had left him. He was a very obedient friend apparently. She actually saw that he was surprised with Mei coming with her.
"Shirou-chan, we are here!" She said waving at him and when they got there she looked at Mei grinning. "This is my childhood, and best friend, Hitsugaya Toushirou. " She introduced him and then turned to him, "This is Guo Cai Mei, a very talented girl, she is keeping truck of cases I solved and will be solving. She will also keep truck of how I will capture Aoi Baron!" She said grinning waiting to see his reaction. She always had those suspicions that he was him but then again, her best friend would not do such things.
"Before you start talking, yes she is the first friend I made at the new High School..." she admitted and then looked away from him. Yes, for Haruhi it was usually difficult to make friends because usually girls would either be jealous of her or think that she is trying to steal their boys whenever they decide to always go and talk to her. And because she was always at the same class with Shirou, most of them were extremely jealous of her.
She couldn't do much about it though anyway. During the last year of her high school she managed to make one friend but then she wanted to go back to Japan thus she was back in her country with no friends, and finally she had a new friend and to top it up, Shirou-chan came back too. She had missed him, and anyone could tell from the way that she was looking at him, that indeed she had missed her best friend.

Mei had no idea what a cappuccino freddo was. Was this something she should know? The moment Haruhi had mentioned it, the third year had pulled a bewildered face but quickly shook it off and replaced it with a smile, trusting that it was good (though she wasn’t about to have one).
“Ah, nonono,” she flapped a hand at the other girl quickly with a smile, looking down at her feet as she was tugged along. “I never drank any of that sort of stuff, the UCC coffee from vending machines is too delicious for me to give up,” she laughed, and it sounded like a joke, but she was deadly serious. If she could pay 100 yen for a perfectly good canned coffee, why would she pay some hefty price for something similar?
Almost stumbling to a halt as Haruhi stopped in front of her friend, Mei’s heel came loose out of her shoe and, bending her foot awkwardly to slot it back into place she glanced up through her fringe to take a look at her new friend’s knight in shining armour. He was good looking, Haruhi was right, and Mei could now understand why such a bright spark got all flustered about something as simple as what colour clothes to wear. Smiling pleasant, Mei bowed her head at her new acquaintance, her short hair swinging around her jaw line as she was introduced.
As she straightened up, her hands clasped in front of her, her brow quirked at the mention of some kind of Baron, but her question as to what that was all about was dispelled as she realised what Haruhi had called her.
“Talented?” She guffawed, blurting the word out loudly and following it with an abrupt laugh that even surprised herself. “Please, Haruhi, don’t flatter me, you’re exaggerating by a million percent.” Her tone was harsh but the smile on her face as she glanced at her friend was clear. She was just glad that her efforts to be friends with people had worked this time, people tended to either love or hate her, which was sometimes a problem.
Turning back to Shirou, she gave her brightest smile as she nodded her head again and tried her best to sound polite. “Nice to meet you, I’ve heard a lot about you.”

Shirou looked at Haruhi and the girl coming. It seemed like she was a nice girl and she must have been a good friend of Haruhi, he thought. When they were closer to him he smiled politely and bowed to the girl saying "Konnichiwa!" then immediately before he was about tointroduce himslef Haruhi introduced him to her and then her to him. So her name was Guo Cai Mei, apparently she was not Japanese. She also seemed to be a older than Haruhi. She also had a sweet looking expression on her face. All in all she seemed okay for being Haruhi's friend. He honestly did not want her to be hurt again.
When Haruhi started telling him that she was talented he blinked thinking that she did not look like it.And then Haruhi had to say the two words... Baron.. and capture. Even if she wanted to, he could never allow her to capture him. He liked his freedom after all. The excitement of stealing was fun and he also liked it whenever he could see her face when she would run after him. But then immediately Haruhi said to him that she was the first friend she had made so he smiled to her and took Haruhi's hand. "I see.." he said smiling to her warmly. It was his way of saying that he was happy that she was not isolated.
Seeing Mei's reaction to Haruhi;s words he also understood what he meant. It was indeed Haruhi exaggerating about it, after all writting a mystery novel is not something everyone can do. Shiro immediately realized that Mei was indeed someone honest and nice who became Haruhi's friend because she wanted to and not because of Haruhi's riches. He could be even more assured now that she would not have a bad time at school and since he was also joining her then things would be even better for little Haruhi. He would not let anything happen to her or her friends.
As he was lost in thought, he heard the girl saying that it was nice meeting him and that she had heard a lot about him. Immediately he looked at Haruhi with a penetrating look and all he saw was a blush the next second he looked at her. " Nice to meet you too, Guo Cai Mei-san! Haruhi failed to tell me about you but then again, we just talked after I came back." He said to her smiling too with one of those glamorous smiles of his.
"If she toild you that I am crazy then it is a lie!" He said and as he smirked he said "oops.." and went to touch her hair but instead a deck card appeared between his fingers. " This was here." He said showing her the queen of hearts card, but as soon as he threw it above the card did not fall down again. It was as if it disappeared. "Shall we go at the cafeteria, since I am a man, and I am escorting two beautoful ladies, it is my treat!" He said and bowing slightly he showed them the way like a gentleman would.

He looked wealthy. This was Mei main thought as she smiled and nodded, playing the role of the good friend but not really knowing what was going on. From the way Haruhi had babbled about him, and from his smile, she was uncertain as to whether he would ACT wealthy, which was the clincher, but he certainly looked it. Mei could practically smell money, it was like a sixth sense she’d been given by her money hungry aunt and brother living in a poor environment, she supposed. Even now she began to feel uncomfortable in her battered trainers and her second hand t-shirt (which was only a little bit big for her, she insisted to herself), compared to what she supposed were the pricey labels hanging off the clothes of the two with her. She hated her thoughts to be driven by money, so quickly shook them off. She was happy as she was, but the thoughts had cropped up in her anxiety at meeting this new, apparently eccentric person.
Looking between Shirou and Haruhi, Mei blinked slowly as though she was playing with an idea in her head. It was clear that there was something going on between them, but the third year bit her lip to refrain from questioning it, and instead allowed herself to be flattered by Shirou’s manners and laugh at his jokes.
However, her laughter froze and her jaw fell slightly slack as she saw the card appear between his fingers.
“You…”
She blinked, holding her finger up in mid-air as she looked at the card, then the blinked at it was gone. She blinked again. And again and again. Nothing.
“W-w-wha….?”
She stood rooted to the spot as he continued talking as though nothing had happened, and began to lead them in another direction. Heavy footed, her mouth still open and finger still raised, she allowed herself to be ushered towards the cafeteria. She shook her head, abruptly closing her mouth to replace her confusion with slightly huffy, pursed lips, hands slipping into her pockets as she went quiet, trying to work out what had just happened.

Haruhi looked at Shirou's expresion and started becoming shifty at him. He even tried to make her look as a liar to Mei by saying that it was a lie that he was crazy. As if Mei was not smart enough to find out on her own. And also who would actually admit that he is crazy? She huffed and poked as she pulled her hand from his. What was he doing anyway grabbing her hand lke that. Apparently he wanted to tease her.
And then she saw it again, his magic trick. The moment she saw him perform it she yawned and and looked at him with a boring look on her face thinking there he goes again. She had seen this trick once and it was enough for her to know how he was doing it. He hides the card under his palm and moves his hand in a way that you cannot see under it and while he put the hand on the other persons hair he let;s the card fall and catches it with his finger before it does so.
Haruhi looked at Mei's face and she was happy that at least she was entertained by him. When though she saw that he did the flying card trick she eyed him sheepishly. She had seen through that one long ago too. He diverts the attention of someone making them think that he throws the card but actually makes it fall to his other hand and quickly hides it in his pocket. Again though it seemed like Mei was dumbfound and she could still not believe her eyes.
Haruhi was thinking that maybe she should tell her the trick before she would start thinking that Shirou is a great wizard but then she thought that maybe it was not a good time and that it would probably annoy Shirou. Instead she leaned to him and whispered in his ear "lame as always!" and thus after he showed them the way she followed him and she noticed that Mei was still trying to figure what was the trick used.
"Mei, want me to tell you what was the trick he used?" She asked her grinning as she noticed that Shirou was eyeing her sheepishly too. Aparently he did not want her to say anything but if Mei wanted to know she had no other option but tell her. For the moment though while she waited for Mei's reply she sat on her chair while Shirou sat on the one ahead of her. Now they would only wait for the waitress to take the order.

“No no no no,” Mei quickly stammered, waving her hands in front of her with an embarrassed laugh as she snapped out of her trance. “Don’t ruin the magic, I’m happy not to know.” She had a thing about magic, and anything that had a technique or secret to it; she wasn’t the sort of person who really had any desire to learn the mechanics or ‘mystery’ behind how something was done, and would rather let herself be impressed in not knowing.
In all honesty, she felt a little abashed that Haruhi knew how it was done and she didn’t. She supposed it was in the other girl’s nature to deduce things, so she wouldn’t let herself be put down by not being able to work it out. Tucking her hair behind her ears, she slipped into an empty chair, her toes tapping together and her fingers fidgeting in her lap. She was never one who could sit still, but she knew it often came across as rude, so she shuffled in her seat to sit on her hands, before looking up at the other two with a smile.
“So how long have you known each other--?” She began to ask, just to put a question out into the open, before a waitress hopped over to their table to ask what they wanted.
Mei flashed the waitress a bright smile, she had a thing about always being cheerful with staff as there was nothing she herself hated more than grumpy customers, before quickly ordering the cheapest coffee on the menu (which happened to be canned, she was thoroughly pleased), nodding her head and allowing the other two to place their orders.
