Short Biography:
Kei has lived in the same house her whole life. Her mother has always been an artist, and her father was once a police officer. The Raiden family lives in a simple two-story house with a shed in the backyard. The shed used to be used for bikes and other odds-and-ends, but Shotarou, the father, wanted to turn it into a writing workshop where he could write his stories in peace and quiet. On the lower floor of the Raiden house is a simple kitchen and a room which serves as Raiden Nana's Studio. The family's bedrooms are all on the second floor as well as the bathroom.
Every child of Shotarou and Nana were born geniuses. Although Hikaru is Autistic, he still turned out to be a genius pianist. Kei was better in the artistic side, and Rena was better at the acedemics. Kei still gets perfect grades, though. The sibling's school life has always been a breeze (with the exception of Hikaru). The sisters were and still are loved by their teachers. Although they got perfect grades, Rena was more popular than Kei is during her high-school life. Rena wants to become a world famous doctor, while Kei wants to become a horror-author.
It's not like Kei dosen't have time for after-school activities, it's just that she chooses to stay home and take care of her brother. She'd like to have some fun with her friends, but she feels that if Hikaru gets no help, that he will find nobody to take comfort in. Kei goes through the trouble of taking him to school and picking him up, and doing everything else for him so he can have a good life without trouble. Her father has always said that Kei would never get married, and instead live with her brother because she cares for him so. Kei and Hikaru have the best emotional bonds in any family.
Personality:
Kei is a very sweet girl who will go out of her way to help another person. She gets good grades, but she herself is not perfect. Kei is very quiet, and rarely speaks up for herself. She is pushed over by a lot of people who don't notice her. In her own way, Kei is invisible. She tries to make friends, but she is never able to get over her shyness and talk to someone, but Kei is very easy to get to know once she does talk to someone.
Having Insomnia is very hard on Kei. It is very hard to get to sleep, and she wakes up very early. Kei normally uses that time to either study or make lunches. She was diagnosed with it when she was eleven, and her parents try to get her the best medicine to deal with it, but nothing seems to work. Although mostly a disadvantage, the insomnia is also helpful, because she gets up around the same time as Hikaru does, so she can care for him as well.
Kei has very modern tastes. She does not like sushi, and can't stand Miso. She'll basically eat anything else. She enjoys listening to western music as well as J-rock. Kei is a supporter of the Visual-Kei movement, where she got her nickname from. She uses every chance she gets to go to concerts or movie premeires. She isn't a die-hard fangirl, but she enjoys meeting the artist or actor. Her motto is; "If you don't live life to the fullest, then life is just wasted". Kei is a plastic model junkie
Sample Roleplay
Kei waved Hikaru off. He was finally able to walk to school on his own, which made Kei extreemly happy. It was still really early, and she didn't want to go to school so early, so Kei just wandered around, looking for deals on plastic models. She breathed in the cool morning air and sighed. There were no plastic models, so Kei just continued on to school. She kicked rocks along the way in dissappointment, as if nothing would be able to cheer her up.
The outline of the school building was coming in sight, so Kei stopped kicking the rock. The gates were open, but there was nobody there. Today wasn't a holiday, because if it was, then Hikaru wouldnt've gone to school. Kei looked around her, and just trudged in to the school yard with a dejected look on her face. As she got closer to the door, she saw somebody. She looked familliar, and then suddenly it struck Kei. It was her sister who she hadn't seen in over two years! Kei ran closer to her and embraced her.
"Rena!" Kei yelled, as happily as anybody could. She let go and stared at her sister. Rena had gotten taller and more feminine, and there was a diamond ring around her ring finger. It seemed that she was engaged. Rena gave Kei a sweet smile. It was definitely Rena, Kei was obviously sure of it, but she didn't say anything. "Rena," Kei asked. "What's the matter?" Her voice was full of curiosity, and she wanted to know everything.
Her sister smiled again. "Nothing sis, it's just that I haven't been here in a long time. Everything has changed." Rena tossed her hair to the side. Her hair had been dyed a dark brownish red. It wasn't the black Kei was used to seeing. Her sister had really changed. Maybe it was because she had been living in a foreign country, but still, Rena didn't need to change, she was already perfect. "Hey Kei, do you want to skip school and come with me today?" Before Kei could answer, Rena pulled her arm and they were headed out of the school.
Kei's mind was swirling. She had never missed a day since preschool. She was giving up perfect attendance for a day with her sister. She knew it was important to be with Rena, but school was also important. Rena had already gone shopping with Kei, so she could get her school uniform off, and now they were sitting down and eating at a coffee shop. Kei felt terrible. She sipped her coffee with a half-hearted look on her face as she listened to Rena tell stories of Germany. They were interesting. She was indeed engaged to a Japanese/ German man named Haruhi, but Rena never talked of ever missing home.
"Rena." Kei said, interrupting her sister. "I really should be at school right now. I missed you and all, but I don't feel right to be skipping school. Please take me back." A tear escaped the corner of Kei's eye. She hoped she wansn't upsetting her sister.
